East Anglian Model Railway Exhibition
Hosted by St Neots Model Railway Club
10th & 11th March 2001

2001 St Neots Model Railway Club Exhibition report

The second East Anglian Model Railway Exhibition hosted by St Neots Model Railway Club was yet another great success. The standard of modelling from exhibitors was very high and the layouts chosen by Malcolm Goodger, Exhibition Manager provided us with a good range of gauges and excellent variety of modelling style.

Of the seventeen layouts, MiddlePeak, which recreates the atmosphere of the Cromford and High Peak incline railway in the 1960s, was voted best layout. The winner of this award is selected by other exhibitors and MiddlePeak has been asked to return to the next East Anglian Model Railway Exhibition in 2003.

Eleven traders ensured that exhibitors and visitors alike had the opportunity to spend money. Everything the railway modeller requires was available for purchase and two modelling demonstrations also provided help and advice.

The Club stand, tombola and kiddies drive a train added to the amusement for visitors and when it was time to pause for a while, Julie & Thelma’s café provided the necessary refreshments. Several of the prizes on the tombola were donated by preserved railways and other companies and numerous businesses in St Neots supported the show in one way or another.

A great time was had by all both during the day and in the evening at the Lord John Russell where we enjoyed good food and a pint!

Thanks go to Malcolm Goodger for another excellent show. A big thank you also to the Club members and their ladies for all of their hard work, for the crowds of visitors who came to see us and for the exhibitors and traders who made it all possible.

If you missed it this year enjoy a selection of photographs here on the website and make sure you come along on 8th & 9th March 2003.
